 has been suspended from boxing just days after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their highly anticipated undisputed heavyweight title fight. The match, held in Saudi Arabia, marked the first defeat of Fury’s professional career, with Usyk securing a split-decision victory to claim the title.

Fury, known as the ‘Gypsy King,’ lost his WBC heavyweight world title to Usyk, who now holds the distinction of being the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades. The bout was a grueling encounter, with Usyk appearing to damage Fury’s nose in the eighth round. Despite a valiant effort, Fury struggled to recover and was forced to take a standing count in the ninth round after enduring a fierce onslaught from Usyk.

Fury managed to reach the final bell, but the judges’ scores reflected Usyk’s dominance, with two judges favoring Usyk and one siding with Fury. Following the fight, both boxers received medical suspensions. Usyk, who boxed under a licence from the United Arab Emirates Commission, was handed a 14-day medical suspension due to an impacted tooth implant, ruling him out of action until June 2.

‘The Gypsy King’ Receives A Shorter Suspension Than Usyk

Fury, who fought under a Nevada license, received a shorter suspension of one week, according to  This means Fury will be eligible to return to the ring from Saturday. The British Boxing Board of Control, which oversaw the undercard fights, reportedly had no knowledge of Usyk’s brief ban or Fury’s suspension, which only came to light on Friday.

In the post-fight press conference, Fury, showing signs of the brutal contest, hinted at his future plans. “I’m fresh out of the fight, as you can see from my face I’m a bit busted up. And he’s gone to hospital with a broken jaw and he’s busted too,” Fury remarked. “So we’ve punched the s*** out of each other for 12 rounds there. I’m going to go home, eat some food, drink some beers, have some family time, walk the dog, go to the tip. And me and Frank [Warren] will talk about what’s going to happen in the future.”

While Usyk has a medical check following the fight, he did not suffer a broken jaw. The Ukrainian pugulist suffered several bruises to his hands and his face.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that he will activate his rematch clause. The rematch is expected to take place at the end of the year or in 2025.
