Floyd Mayweather is in the discussion as one of boxing’s greatest-ever fighters — and though he has not taken part in a professional bout since 2017, he remains among the sport’s biggest draws.

It wasn’t long ago that Mayweather teased fans with a return to the ring, less than a year after his previous exhibition bout in Miami against John Gotti III. More details on Mayweather‘s return to boxing — albeit not in a professional capacity — are starting to emerge, and Money‘s potential opponent is someone he faced in a contentious welterweight showdown more than a decade ago.

Mayweather to renew rivalry with Victor Ortiz

According to ESPN‘s Salvador Rodriguez, Mayweather is set to fight Victor Ortiz in Mexico on Aug. 24, in the eighth exhibition bout Pretty Boy Floyd has agreed to since his last professional fight in 2017. This will not be the first time Mayweather has faced off against Ortiz, and their last meeting ended under a shroud of controversy in 2011.

Back then, Mayweather was challenging Ortiz for the latter’s WBC welterweight belt. Mayweather was in control for the first three rounds, and Ortiz’s bid to get back into the match ended when he headbutted Mayweather in the corner of the ring at MGM Grand Garden Arena. After the incident and a brief delay, Mayweather caught Ortiz with a vicious left hook and sent him to the mat with a right, winning the match via knockout

Now nearly 13 years removed from that controversial fight, it will be interesting to see how the two boxers greet one another should this bout come to pass. Fans will eagerly await more details as one of the legends of the sport closes in what should be another million-dollar payday

Floyd Mayweather is set to make a shock return to boxing in a rematch of a hugely controversial bout during his professional career.

Mayweather called time on his storied pro career when he registered his 50th victory against Conor McGregor in a money-spinning Las Vegas showdown back in August 2017.

However, the former pound-for-pound king has returned to the ring in the form of several exhibition bouts.

In 2018, he stopped Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa before facing Logan Paul and Don Moore in non-scored contests.

The boxing legend then beat another Japanese opponent in Mikuru Asakura before defeating Deji Olatunji in Dubai.

He also took on former MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers and hasn’t fought since his chaotic clash against John Gotti III, which ended in a mass brawl.

But the 47-year-old is set to lace up the gloves again for another exhibition bout in what will be a rematch of one of his pro fights.

According to Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN Mexico, Mayweather is in line to meet former foe Victor Ortiz on August 24 in Mexico.

Per the report, Mayweather vs. Ortiz 2 will take place at The Plaza de toros Mexico, which is the world’s largest bullring, boasting a capacity of 41,262.

‘Money’ met Ortiz in the 42nd bout of his pro career and the fight ended in controversial fashion.

He stopped ‘Vicious’ in the fourth round to defend his WBC welterweight world title.

Ortiz inexplicably head-butted Mayweather, who complained about the move to referee Joe Cortez.

The official separated the fighters and signalled for time out before deducting a point off Ortiz.

Upon resuming the fight, Ortiz hugged Mayweather, who wasted no time in launching an attack.

He landed a brutal combination that landed flush on his opponent’s chin, flooring him in the process.

Floyd Mayweather‘s vicious ‘cheap shot’ to claim the WBC welterweight world title against Victor Ortiz in 2011 is still clouded by controversy and viewed by many as a hollow victory.

Mayweather stopped Ortiz in the fourth round in highly contentious fashion after landing two brutal strikes.

Ortiz hadn’t landed much on Mayweather until the fourth round, but he connected with a few stinging shots before delivering a nasty and intentional headbutt.

recently commended his former fighter, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, as the “biggest puncher” in the lightweight division while calling Shakur Stevenson the “most skillful.”

However, fans and critics have different views on Stevenson‘s fighting style.

Many of them perceive WBC 135-lb champion Shakur Stevenson as overly defensive, accusing him of avoiding direct engagement in the ring.

Mayweather Jr. hails Stevenson’s skillset

Critics argue that aside from his contentious victory over Edwin De Los Santos last November-a fight some believe Stevenson lost-he hasn’t faced top-tier competition.

“The biggest puncher at 135 will probably be Gervonta Davis, but the most skillful fighter at 135 will be hands down Shakur Stevenson,” Mayweather Jr. told the Come and Talk 2 Me YouTube channel.

“Well it’s all really about skills. Pernell Whitaker wasn’t a huge puncher but he was very exciting, very tough and he fought everybody and Shakur is trying to do the same thing, he’s trying to fight the best out there, he’s asking to fight the best.”

On the other hand, Vasily Lomachenko is often regarded as the most skilled lightweight, praised for his willingness to engage and his well-rounded abilities.

Fans believe Stevenson‘s primary asset is his movement, which they feel limits his overall effectiveness since he rarely stands his ground.

Critics argue that a fighter must engage more directly, something they believe Stevenson avoids.

His reliance on evasive tactics and a step-back approach has led some to label him one of the least exciting fighters in the 135-lb division

another victory to his record by defeating Nikolai Buzolin in California. The 18-year-old boxing prodigy showcased his skills in the lightweight division for the first time, knocking Buzolin down in the first round and securing a second-round victory as the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

“He had a lot of experience, but I knew I was gonna come out here and handle business,” Moton said.

“I’ve had pressure on me my whole life. I’ve always had that [Mayweather] name on my shoulders. I’m used to it. When they call my name again I’ll be here, and I’ll put on another good performance.”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was present at ringside, cheering for Moton throughout the bout. After the fight, Mayweather expressed immense pride in Moton‘s performance, reflecting on how he has mentored the young boxer at his famous gym.

Mayweather hails Moton

Moton‘s impressive win comes after previously defeating Anthony Cuba on the undercard of the Tim Tszyu-Sebastian Fundora headliner. Despite missing out on opportunities to appear in high-profile events like the Canelo Alvarez-Jaime Munguia show and Gervonta Davis‘ June 15 title defense, Moton‘s latest victory reaffirms his potential.

“I’m happy that I was able to be a part of his life and take him to that next level,” said Mayweather.

“He wanted to be great. He’s boxed so many different champions throughout the years, even as an amateur. I just want the best for him, but, so much talent.”

t’s been a decade since singer Ray J and retored boxer Floyd Mayweather had a falling out over a shared love interest. At the time when Ray J really started dating Princess Love Norwood, Floyd famously dated the celebrity before his friend. In the end, Ray J married Princess Love but he is currently estranged from her. Recently, the TV personality appeared on the Shannon Sharpe show to talk about personal stuff and got around to discussing his falling out with Floyd. Right now, Ray J is no longer friends with Mayweather and he is not in speaking terms with his wife. Although he did make a plea for someday fixing his relationship with the former boxer.

Ray J got married to Floyd Mayweather’s interest

The entire event took place a decade ago and none of them have spoken since. Ray J sat down with Sharpe to talk about his career and that’s when he got a little emotional speaing about his falling out with Mayweather. Also, he left an open door for a potential reconciliation. He said: “It was weird because I really liked her and she was still kind of like in a situation with P.B. Because I loved her. He [Floyd Mayweather] didn’t love her. I’ve seen him out and it’s all love. I don’t have any issues and he doesn’t either. But our friendship is not there no more. Not that he gives a f*ck. I got nothing but love for [Floyd Mayweather], and that’s so long ago, I’m sure he’s good now.

This is a love triangle situation that happens in regular life more often than one thinks, it’s been happening for a long time. Friendships can be destroyed for love while relationships get stronger because of the same reason. Meanwhile, Princess Love is living a great career in television and enjoying life without her estranged husband. She is truly a star of reality TV shows and other series from various streaming services. It remains to be seen if this friendship will ever go back to good terms, only time will tell.

The now former CEO of Mayweather Promotions has been somehow in the middle, as ‘Cash’ Mayweather officially announced Ellerbe’s departure on Instagram on Thursday and now, his role in the company has been assumed by the former CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schäfer

While there were rumors of the same thing happening, the update came as a shock to everyone. Ellerbe has been Floyd Mayweather’s close confidant since the beginning of his boxing career, but things appear to have changed as Mayweather Promotions has fallen in recent years. Amid all this, Floyd’s uncle Jeff Mayweather has shed light on how Ellerbe handled the tumultuous relationship between Davis and Mayweather.

It was a very interesting way to deal with the situation

While Mayweather has often slyly criticized Davis since the boxer left his promotions company, things had gotten so bad that Davis had even started rumors about Floyd being stuck in Dubai, while the duo began openly bashing each other on social media platforms. So, in response to the question, Jeff acknowledged that it was, in fact, extremely difficult for Ellerbe to deal with the situation. However, he noted, “Many times friends want you to choose a side.”

However, it seems that Ellerbe chose to be smart with his actions, as Jeff said, “But I mean, Leonard is smart enough not to take sides and just stayed in business.” Meanwhile, Schaefer is mulling over the possibility of taking over Ellerbe’s old position.

Schaefer, who began his career in the banking sector, worked with Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Promotions from 2000 to 2016 and then started the Ringstar Sports and Probellum boxing promotions with mixed results. However, since he has promoted some big pay-per-view fights with Mayweather, he accepted the job while being in the former five-division champion’s good books.

‌DeSantis and Shields will collide on the PFL Champions vs. Bellator Champions card on Saturday night.‌

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — When PFL [Professional Fights League] merged with Bellator MMA, the two organizations wasted no time formulating a stacked card that features their champions facing off against one another. Saturday, February 24, PFL Champions vs. Bellator Champions card will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The card also features a very intriguing female fight between 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and undisputed boxing champion, Claressa Shields against the very dangerous, Kelsey DeSantis. DeSantis gladly welcomes Shields back inside the cage after a long hiatus to focus on evolving and her boxing career. DeSantis, fresh off of a first round TKO win against Kathleen Noy Nelson hopes to send Shields back to boxing with consecutive losses in MMA.

DeSantis opens up about her upcoming fight and much more with Zenger News.

Zenger: How has Saudi Arabia been treating you, and how has preparation been for Saturday’s fight against Claressa Shields?

DeSantis: It’s been great. It’s been a great camp and I’m looking forward to a great fight.

Zenger: Was it difficult to prepare for Shield’s considering most of the footage on her is boxing?

DeSantis: No necessarily. I focused on her last few fights and analyzed the time from that in terms of how far you can grow within 2 years, and kind of adjusted my game plan and strategy based off of that.

Zenger: You’re coming off of a TKO win in October, Claressa hasn’t competed in MMA since 2021. Does her time away from MMA help her grow as a fighter, or hinder her growth being away from the sport?

DeSantis: Personally, I think you can put in work in a year or two, but when it comes to all of the elements of MMA, the ground game, and what not, I don’t think it takes around 5 to 10 years to progress. In 2 years, you can accelerate your training and learn a lot, but I think it takes quite a bit longer to develop the whole picture.

Zenger: What was your initial reaction not only being offered the fight with Shields, but to be a part of an event of this magnitude?

DeSantis: I was so excited, so honored, and privileged to be given this opportunity. My manager, Brian [Butler] with Sucker Punch Entertainment, is great. He mentioned it, but he said, no guarantees, he didn’t know if it would happen or not. He called back and said that we got it, and the fight was confirmed and I was just stoked. I think it’s so cool. I’m excited to be a part of the card, and to fight her, I think it’s awesome.

Zenger: Often, fighters will say, I’m going to bring my opponent into my wheelhouse, but then fight time comes and they will try to “prove a point.” Not that you don’t have great height, reach, and boxing, but Shields’ is world class. How important is it for you to not attempt to “prove a point” during the course of this fight?

DeSantis: That’s a great question. For me, it’s not about proving a point. It’s about trusting my skillset. I’ve been doing standup for quite a long time. I want to take the fight where it goes. I don’t want to rush anything. I don’t want to miss any opportunities. I trust my game. I don’t wanna be rushing to the ground, when I can be making some moves standing up. I want to make sure I’m careful because obviously her hands are dangerous. I’m not rushing anything or compromising the fact that I’m good all around. I’m really well-rounded.

Zenger: You don’t have to give anything away, but have you changed anything training wise given who the opponent is and what her strengths are?

DeSantis: I have definitely pulled together some strategies specifically for this fight. I’m excited if it goes to the ground, I’m excited if we stand up for a little bit too. I’m comfortable all around. I don’t want to miss any opportunities that will be given.

Zenger: What did you take away from the face off with Claressa?

DeSantis: I thought it was good because I felt relieved when we were done. I felt great that we got that part out of the way. I think there is a mutual respect. In terms of size, she’s definitely big but so am I. It was kind of nice to see that. Usually, I feel bigger than most of my opponents. It was nice to feel that we are close to the same size. I cut a lot to fight at 145. We signed this fight at 55 and now it’s at a catch weight of 65. I think there needs to be more women fights at 55 and 65. Hopefully, that is something that starts happening more.

Zenger: When you got the news that the fight would be contested at 165, did you have to start putting weight back on, or were you already there?

DeSantis: Actually, I was in my window. I just didn’t have to start cutting lower. It’s closer to what I walk around at.

Zenger: You said that you will teach Claressa Shields MMA. What lessons will be taught on Saturday night?

DeSantis: I’m going to teach her that there are a lot of aspects to the game, and sometimes it just takes time. I think that’s the biggest lesson that I will bring to her, but you will have to ask her what she gets out of it (laughing).

Ryan Garcia celebrates Nate Diaz’s victory overJorge Masvidal with strange request

Despite these worries, both Tyson and Paul have confirmed that the fight will go on as planned.

‘The Problem Child,’ has faced significant criticism for choosing opponents who are well past their prime. However, he has also garnered support from some quarters.

Mayweather praises Paul

Former champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has shown support for Paul, despite their past contentious encounters.

In a recent interview, Mayweather was asked about Jake Paul‘s boxing credentials and offered some surprising insights.

During the interview, host Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson of ‘It Is What It Is’ inquired about Mayweather‘s thoughts on a rematch with Logan Paul before shifting focus to Jake Paul.

“I mean what he’s doing is kind of cool if he can continue to steal money and they match him the way they match him,” he noted.

“I can’t knock his hustle, so if they can match him the way they how they’ve been matching him more power to him.”

Tyson and Paul‘s fight will consist of eight two-minute rounds with both fighters wearing 14oz gloves. Tyson‘s last fight was an un-scored exhibition against Jones Jr. four years ago, on the same event where Paul knocked out NBA star Nate Robinson

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are about to do their thing again. The duo is set to square off at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Diaz retired from the UFC after his contract expired and is now a free agent, as is Jorge Masvidal.

The duo are set to square off in a 10-round boxing match. This would be Diaz’s second outing in boxing and it looks like the former UFC fighter is willing to fight anyone for the money now. Ahead of their showdown, let’s see how Diaz feels about boxing.

Nate Diaz would fight anyone

The last time Nate Diaz stepped into a boxing ring, he showed tremendous boxing instincts, but was ultimately defeated by Jake Paul by unanimous decision.

Paul promised he would face Diaz in an MMA bout, but it appears the Stockton native has other plans before facing him again.

Prior to their showdown, Diaz claimed he would accept a matchup against anyone for money.

“I had five fights in the UFC after Ultimate Fighter against opponents ranked in the top 10. Then I demanded the top 10, and I’ve been fighting them for 25-30 fights in the UFC. Now, whatever I do, I look for the best fighter I can fight. I can fight anybody for $10 million, and I’ll probably get $10 million,” said Nate Diaz in an interview with MMAFightingWithSBN.

He added: “I want to fight the best of the best or the biggest. Everybody thinks Jake Paul does, so why am I not going to fight him? You know what I’m saying. So I’ll take the best.”

He acknowledged that he has begun practicing mental agility exercises to prevent neurological deterioration, similar to what other members of his boxing family have suffered.

In the Mayweather family, both Floyd Sr. and his uncle, Roger, require special care due to neurological damage that has resulted in memory loss. This problem has also started to affect Floyd Jr.

“The memory loss could be from boxing, or it could be something that runs in the family,” he said in an interview on the podcast Come and Talk 2 Me with Ma$e, Cam’ron, and Treasure ‘Stat Baby’ Wilson.

“For example, my uncle Roger (Mayweather), it got really bad for him, so I ended up hiring someone to take care of him, and the same thing is happening to my dad (Floyd Sr.).

Throughout his career, ‘Money’ was known for his elusiveness, primarily using the ‘shoulder roll’ technique – a sideways stance that his father and uncle also popularized in the 1980s, allowing them to dodge opponents’ punches with quick waist movements.

Mayweather Jr. took this further, achieving an undefeated career with 50 fights and 27 knockouts.

“It might be something genetic in the family. Even I feel that mentally I’m not 100 percent like before. I like to do different exercises, puzzles, word games, to keep my mind healthy,” said Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Life After Boxing for Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather Jr. retired at 40 in August 2017. Since then, he has participated in some exhibition matches, though he has declined to fight former boxers, stating that he has accomplished everything in boxing. In his exhibition bouts, he tries to avoid taking significant damage from his opponents.

However, it seems the former boxer has started to show signs of erratic behavior. Recently, he missed two scheduled commitments in Mexico without any explanation.

Mayweather was supposed to hold a press conference to promote an exhibition fight at the Arena Ciudad de México and conduct a mass boxing class for city residents.

Mayweather failed to show up and did not inform the organizers in Mexico. He even deleted the promotional content for his fight in Mexico from his social media.

After several days, he reappeared and reposted the event poster: “Mexico, I’ll see you soon. Stay tuned for details about the upcoming exhibition,” he wrote on his Instagram account.

However, in the new poster, the fighter did not announce who his opponent would be, leaving the organization of the event unclear

Ryan Garcia says goodbye to his children in emotional video before entering rehab

Garcia has accustomed his fans to generating controversy by criticizing his opponents and displaying erratic behavior on his social media, expressing a barrage of confusing and offensive ideas to many. Now, he has surprised everyone with a unique and special moment with his young children before undergoing a rehabilitation process to recover his mental and physical health.

Ryan Garcia says goodbye to his children before his rehabilitation

Ryan Garcia is suffering the consequences of his social media posts, his behavior exposed to everyone is pushing him further and further away from professional boxing, it seems that he is the only one responsible for ending his boxing career by giving himself a knockout.

Garcia has been suspended for doping for a year after testing positive for Ostarine before and on the same day of his fight against Devin Haney last April. At the time, the fighter stated that he would move to the UFC after learning of his boxing suspension. Will the UFC accept someone as controversial and problematic as Ryan?

Ryan received a hard blow after learning of the message from the president of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman. Due to Garcia’s racist comments on social media, the WBC decided to expel him from the organization.

“Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization,” Sulaiman shared on his social media.

And if that wasn’t enough, Ryan seems to embarrass his family, Garcia’s parents took to social media to claim that their son requires assistance.

“Our family unequivocally does not support any statements he has made regarding race or religion – these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised,” read the family’s statement.

Now that Ryan has agreed to begin a rehabilitation process to recover his mental and physical health, he said goodbye to his children in a unique moment of tenderness that is very rare to see Garcia, in the clip the boxer is lying on his bed, while his two little ones hug him and smile being happy with their father. The scene is so heartwarming that it seems he is not as controversial a person as he has proven to be.

Now that Garcia seems to have hit rock bottom, he will be looking for a way to get back in the ring through a rehabilitation process. Let’s hope to see Ryan back in the ring very soon, demonstrating his boxing skills in a spectacular fight.
