Crawford will challenge for the super-welterweight title but said Garcia’s friends aren’t good for him

Terence Crawford  called for Ryan Garcia to review the friends he has around him as the controversial boxing continues to “self-destruct” in 2024 whilst sitting on the sidelines for a doping ban.

The Mexican-American opened the year with a series of bizarre conspiracy theories and appeared to pretend to be murdered by satanists, although he claims he was hacked on social media

Then he entered the ring against Devin Haney in one of the most controversial boxing matches of recent time as he showed up too heavy and later found to have a performance-enhancing substance in his system through multiple blood tests, leaving him banned for a year.

As if that wasn’t enough, a racist attack against black people and Muslims on a live stream saw him expelled by the WBC’s President as he blamed mental health struggles throughout the years.

So, whilst Crawford didn’t feel it was his responsibility to offer advice directly to Garcia, he did subtly implore the 25-year-old to think about the people he’s surrounded by and whether they are right to protect him.

“Nah, not really. I don’t have a relationship with him like that,” Crawford told the IMPAULSIVE podcast. “So, that’s not my place. That’s the guys that surround him.

“For you to call yourself a friend, a brother, a cousin, to watch a man like that self-destruct, what type of friend are you?

“Anything that I do that’s going to challenge me to anything negative or lead me down the wrong path, there’s not one person in my camp right now that wouldn’t grab me and be like, ‘Hey, you ain’t doing that.'”
